Are you a huge fan of Schitt’s Creek? Well, Netflix has some great news for you! Dan Levy, the Emmy-winning star, co-creator, producer, writer and so much more of the hit series, will soon bring his talents to the streamer with new original movies and shows.

According to Deadline, Dan Levy has inked a new overall deal with Netflix, which will see the Emmy winner writing and producing original scripted content across the streamer’s film and TV banners. After Schitt’s Creek proved successful for Netflix, this partnership is a no-brainer.

Levy co-created the sitcom with his father, Eugene Levy, and the series grew in popularity after finding a wider audience on Netflix. Also starring Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy, Schitt’s Creek swept the Emmys in 2020, winning a whopping nine awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Under his new deal with Netflix, Levy will get to work on a few projects, including a romantic comedy that will double as his feature film directorial debut. Get all the details on what’s to come from Levy’s new partnership with Netflix after the jump.

Dan Levy signs new deal with Netflix

While Levy will soon get to work on the rom-com, he won’t get started on creating new Netflix original series until July 2022, when his current overall deal with ABC Studios concludes. Under that pact, Levy still has a few projects in development.

Regarding his overall deal with Netflix, Levy said in a statement shared with Deadline:

"“Netflix offered Schitt’s Creek a second home at just the right time and opened the doors to a whole new audience for us. Watching the show thrive there has only enhanced my excitement about continuing to tell specific, meaningful stories with them in both TV and feature film. A full circle moment.”"

A full circle moment indeed, and we know we speak for all Schitt’s Creek fans when we say we can’t wait for Levy to continue telling those meaningful stories full of heart and humor very soon.

Dan Levy Netflix romantic comedy

If you can’t wait until July 2022 for Dan Levy to start writing and producing your next favorite Netflix original series, then prepare for the comedy genius to make his directorial debut with an upcoming rom-com. Levy will also write and star in the as-yet untitled original movie.

Further details about Dan Levy’s Netflix romantic comedy have yet to be announced, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated when the cast, synopsis, trailer and, of course, release date are revealed.

As die-hard Schitt’s Creek stans can attest, we can only hope Levy will reteam with his former cast members. Personally, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a romantic comedy starring Emmy winner Annie Murphy, who currently stars in the dark comedy series Kevin Can F*** Himself.
