Always Be My Maybe

Release Year: 2019

Directed By: Nahnatchka Khan

Starring: Ali Wong, Randall Park, James Saito, Michelle Buteau, Vivian Bang, Daniel Dae Kim, Keanu Reeves

Never underestimate the power of a good old-fashioned feel-good movie, especially if that’s not usually your go-to movie to watch on Netflix. You might spend a fair amount of your time checking out the latest genre hits and high-brow awards season favorites, but you shouldn’t count out the tried-and-true rom-com standbys like Always Be My Maybe.

Ali Wong and Randall Park star in Always Be My Maybe as estranged childhood friends who lose touch for 15 years after an ill-fated teenage romance set them on separate paths. But when the mismatched pair reunite in San Francisco, they just might regain the spark that were set ablaze all those years prior, even if they are still in two completely different worlds.

Upon release in the summer of 2019, Always Be My Maybe earned positive reception from critics and continued the well-received new wave of romantic comedies from the streaming service. Naturally, the film, which was co-written by Wong and Park, was a hit with viewers and made another excellent case for the rom-com renaissance. Still to this day, Always Be My Maybe should be on your list of movies to watch (and rewatch) on Netflix.
