Have you heard the good news? Young Sheldon is coming to Netflix US on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023! It’s not clear how many of the six seasons will be added to the streamer just yet. But we do know that multiple installments are joining Netflix’s vast library! (Update: Five seasons are now on Netflix.)
The show’s parent network CBS recently announced that the seventh and final season is going to premiere on Feb. 15, 2024, with the final episode scheduled for May 16, 2024. If the first six seasons are all added to Netflix, I really hope Max (where the series is currently also streaming), is willing to share the final one with us Netflix users as well. We need to know how it ends!
With this fun news, you’re probably wondering who’s part of the cast list. Whether you’ve watched The Big Bang Theory or not, don’t worry. We’ve got the list of actors and who exactly they play for you below:
- Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper
- Jim Parsons as the voice of adult Sheldon narrating the series
- Zoe Perry as Sheldon’s mom Mary Cooper
- Lance Barber as Sheldon’s dad George Cooper
- Montana Jordan as Sheldon’s older brother Georgie Cooper
- Raegan Revord as Sheldon’s twin sister Missy Cooper
- Annie Potts as Connie/Meemaw
Ready to dive deeper into the details you need to know about the actors and their respective characters? Read on below for a more in-depth look at the talents bringing these iconic characters to life!
Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper
* Jim Parsons reprises his role as adult Sheldon to narrate the series
Iain Armitage takes on the lead role of the titular character, Sheldon Cooper. The nine-year-old genius is able to do advanced math and science, and is starting high school at such a young age. In the fictional town of Medford, Texas where all the rage is church and football, Sheldon definitely stands out. And his “normal” family has to figure out how to support the gifted young boy.
Other than Young Sheldon, the now 15-year-old Armitage is known for playing Ziggy Chapman in Big Little Lies and voicing Chase in PAW Patrol: The Movie. He was first scouted by two theater agents who wanted to sign him on after seeing his YouTube show, Iain Loves Theatre where he’d review musical theater shows. His first TV role was in 2017 on an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The actor was nine years old when he started on Young Sheldon.

Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper
Zoe Perry takes on the role of a younger Mary Cooper, who The Big Bang Theory fans met multiple times as a guest star on the flagship series. Fun fact! Laurie Metcalf, who plays Mary on TBBT, is actually the real-life mother of Zoe Perry. Isn’t that so cool!? Plus, Zoe’s father is actor Jeff Perry. Mary “fiercely protects and nurtures” Sheldon from the town where he just “doesn’t fit in,” per the synopsis. She’s also very religious and involved in the town church.
The now 40-year-old actress actually also played a younger version of another of her mother’s characters in the past: Jackie from Roseanne. Before Young Sheldon, she appeared as Jane in ABC thriller series The Family and Samantha Ruland in Scandal. She’s married to producer Gab Tarabousl.

Lance Barber as George Cooper
Lance Barber is Sheldon’s father, George Cooper. The high school football coach is struggling “to find his way” both at work, as well as understanding his own son. Fun fact: Barber actually appeared on TBBT as Leonard’s old high school bully Jimmy Speckerman in season 5 episode 11, “The Speckerman Recurrence.”
You might recognize Barber as Paulie G. in The Comeback, Bill Ponderosa in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Dr. Gabler in Black-ish. The 50-year-old first gained interest in acting when he was seven years old, and eventually moved to Chicago from Michigan to hone his improv comedy skills at The Second City. He’s married to a chef, Aliza Barber, and the couple has two kids.

Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper
We meet Sheldon’s older brother Georgie on the flagship series, played by actor Jerry O’Connell. And all I can say is that casting the younger version of the character was definitely on point! On Young Sheldon, Georgie is in high school and trying to do his best to fit in and be cool. But that’s difficult to do when your in the same classes as “your odd nine-year-old brother.”
Montana Jordan is currently 20 years old and was only 14 years old when he started on Young Sheldon. A Texan himself, the actor hasn’t done any other projects except for the sitcom. The only other production was appearing as Jaden Ferguson in the 2018 movie The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter. Though not 100% confirmed, he seems to be engaged to his girlfriend Jenna and the two are expecting a baby girl, per Jenna’s Instagram post.

Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper
Raegan Revord is another of the Cooper children who’s been growing up before our eyes the past six seasons! Taking on the role of Sheldon’s twin sister Missy Cooper, the 15-year-old was only nine years old when she started playing Missy on Young Sheldon. Missy sometimes resents the extra attention her brother gets, but she’s also the “one person who can reliably tell Sheldon the truth.”
At the age of six, Revord made her acting debut on season 7 episode 14 of Modern Family, “The Storm.” She’s also previously appeared on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, With Bob & David, and Teachers. Courtney Henggeler plays the adult version of her character in The Big Bang Theory.

Annie Potts as Connie/Meemaw
Annie Potts is Sheldon’s grandmother and Mary’s mom, Connie a.k.a. Sheldon’s beloved Meemaw. We actually met his grandmother on Big Bang, played by actress June Squibb. However for Young Sheldon, she was recast and the character is a bit edgier. Which is what we love about her! Meemaw is a “foul-mouthed, hard-drinking” Texan, but she’s very supportive of her grandson.
Potts is a known talent in the industry, with her acting credits including Janine Melnitz in the Ghostbusters movies, Iona in Pretty in Pink, the voice of Bo Peep in the Toy Story films, Dana Palladino in Love & War, Sharon Elkin in The Fosters, and Helen Manning in Chicago Med.
