Young Sheldon is coming to Netflix US! Here’s when you can start watching

Good news Netflix subscribers! The streamer has lots of great content for us in the U.S., whether it’s originals like Stranger Things and Bridgerton, or licensed from other networks like Grey’s Anatomy and Gilmore Girls. Recently, the platform has been adding more to its library, with the latest addition being Young Sheldon!

If you search for the series on Netflix, a page pops up reading “seasons coming November 24.” That means mark your calendars! Young Sheldon will be added to Netflix on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. Five of the show’s current six seasons were added on that date.

The Big Bang Theory prequel series currently has a total of six seasons, with the seventh and final installment set to premiere Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. And we can also bittersweetly say that the finale date has been scheduled by the network as well. The very last episode of Young Sheldon will air Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Netflix drops new shows and episodes at 12 a.m. PT. And with the streaming date being the day after Thanksgiving, perhaps you’ll be staying up late that day to start making your way through. After all, it’s a quick watch. Episodes are only around 20-ish minutes. And lots of us are off the day after Thanksgiving. So get ready for a new show to binge!

Young Sheldon around the world (Is the comedy streaming on Netflix outside of the U.S.?)

According to Unogs, Young Sheldon is already available on Netflix outside of the U.S. All six seasons are available to stream in most of the 30 international territories listed. Those include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, and Romania. Whereas countries like the U.K.and Romania have five seasons available, and India only has four.

It might seem a little strange that a U.S. series would be made available internationally on Netflix before domestically. But that’s not uncommon for many shows. Due to competition, as well as licensing and streaming deals, it’s a little harder for companies to share content now. They have a bit more flexibility outside of the U.S. to do so.

But, hey. We’re going to get the comedy-drama very soon. The addition of Young Sheldon on Netflix is certainly exciting and something I’m definitely looking forward to! I’m a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory, and this is a chance to dive deeper into the young genius’ family life and upbringing. With so many streamers to keep up with, sometimes you have to pick and choose which ones you want to pay for. But with certain companies licensing to Netflix, that always makes things better!

What you need to know about Young Sheldon

Young Sheldon, created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, serves as a prequel series to The Big Bang Theory. It focuses on a young Sheldon Cooper growing up in the fictional Medford, Texas. We start with the “brilliant yet awkward” nine-year-old facing high school, per the synopsis. High school is hard enough, and his intelligence and quirks certainly aren’t always well-received or make it any easier on the young boy fitting in. The show follows his journey through navigating this challenge, while we learn more about his parents, twin sister, older brother, and his beloved grandmother, Meemaw.

The sitcom stars Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper; Jim Parsons as the voice of adult Sheldon narrating the series; Zoe Perry as Sheldon’s mom Mary Cooper; Lance Barber as Sheldon’s dad George Cooper; Montana Jordan as Sheldon’s older brother Georgie Cooper; Raegan Revord as Sheldon’s twin sister Missy Cooper; and Annie Potts as Connie/Meemaw.

All six seasons of the series are currently streaming on Max, which will share streaming homes with Netflix starting on Nov. 24. The 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory are also currently streaming on Max. Warner Bros. is currently working on another TBBT spin-off, though no details about it are out yet except that it’s in the very early stages.
