The best horror movie of 2023 is hands down Talk to Me. If you think otherwise, let’s have a little discussion. But if you’re a diehard fan like us, I’m sure you’ve spent many of your days having rewatch sessions. It’s just that good!
It’s an Australian film from the creative twin brother duo, Danny and Michael Philippou, and it stars breakout star Sophie Wilde as the protagonist. Danny and Michael are best known for their popular YouTube channel “RackaRacka,” where they would post funny horror comedy videos.
You might recognize Wilde from her previous role as Kyra in the Netflix miniseries You Don’t Know Me, or as Scout in the Australian drama series Eden. She most recently played the leading role of Mia Polanco in the Netflix teen drama series Everything Now, which many people applauded for her outstanding performance.
The rest of the talented cast is made up of Wentworth‘s Zoe Terakes, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Miranda Otto, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, and many others.
The film follows a bunch of teenage kids who get a kick out of using a mysterious embalmed hand to contact spirits. But things go terribly wrong when one of them takes it too far, and accidentally lets loose a terrifying supernatural force.
It premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival in October 2022 and was released later in theaters in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada in July 2023. Now, it’s available to stream on Netflix. Well, Netflix U.K. that is.
On Oct. 26, the smash hit horror flick landed on everyone’s Netflix accounts in the U.K. This is great for people living across the pond because they’ll be able to stream the movie on Halloween night. But for U.S. fans, we’ll have to watch the film elsewhere for now.
Where to watch Talk to Me in the U.S.
As of Oct. 27, the horror film is available to watch in select theaters in the U.S. You can find screenings near you and purchase tickets through Fandango. The only other way to watch this movie is by renting or purchasing it through Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, etc.
It’s unknown if it’ll ever be available to watch on a streaming platform in the U.S., but if so, it’ll most likely stream on Paramount+ with Showtime. This is where many A24 films are available to stream, and since Talk to Me is an A24 movie, it’ll likely follow suit.
If it ever comes to Netflix U.S., you can definitely count on us at Netflix Life to let you know!
