Will Trolls Band Together be on Netflix? (where to watch)

Trolls is set to make its return with a new animated movie called Trolls Band Together. It’s a sequel to the 2020 film Trolls World Tour and is the third movie in the Trolls film franchise. The scheduled release date in U.S. theaters is Nov. 17, 2023, and it’s expected to arrive on streaming platforms sometime later. Will Netflix be the chosen streaming platform? We shared everything we know about the film’s streaming home below.

Trolls Band Together is a kid-animated film based on the Good Luck Trolls dolls by Thomas Dam. American writer and director Walt Dohrn returns to direct with Elizabeth Tippet returning to pen the script.

Poppy and Branch are finally a couple after being friends and all the flirting in the first two films! But the honeymoon phase doesn’t last long when one of Branch’s brothers, Floyd, gets kidnapped by pop star villains, Velvet and Veneer. Now Branch and Poppy must embark on a journey to reunite Branch’s other brothers aka former mega boyband, BroZone, and rescue Floyd from the clutches of the talentless brother-and-sister pop act.

Anna Kendrick returns from the first two films to voice the role of Poppy, queen of the Pop Trolls and Branch’s new girlfriend. You might know Kendrick from her role as Beca Mitchell in the Pitch Perfect film series. She also had roles in the movies The Twilight Saga, Up in the Air, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Into the Woods, The Accountant and A Simple Favor.

Grammy and Emmy Award-winning singer and actor Justin Timberlake also returns from the first two movies to voice the role of Branch, a survivalist Pop Troll and Poppy’s new boyfriend. Some of Timberlake’s other roles were in the movies The Social Network, Bad Teacher, Friends with Benefits and Reptile.

Where to watch Trolls Band Together

As mentioned above, Trolls Band Together will be released in theaters starting Nov. 17. Then, as soon as 45 days after its debut in theaters, it will stream exclusively on Peacock and remain on this streaming platform for four months. This means the movie could land on Peacock on Jan. 1, 2024, at the earliest. Four months later would be sometime in May 2024. This is the earliest Netflix is expected to receive the animated movie due to its animated film license deal with Universal (the distributor of the film).

Per the deal, Netflix’s window to stream upcoming Universal animated films will begin after a four-month window on Peacock. Once the movie drops on Netflix, it will then remain on the streaming platform for 10 months before making its way back to Peacock.

However, it’s important to mention that nothing is set in stone yet. So, the animated movie could arrive on Netflix later than May 2024. We’ll be sure to share the official Netflix release date once it’s announced.
