Is School Spirits streaming on Netflix? (where to watch)

There really aren’t that many young adult shows, the options are surprisingly limited. It’s certainly time for a new one! One series that came out earlier this year and gained attention is School Spirits starring Peyton List. Is the show streaming on Netflix?

The supernatural teen drama isn’t currently on the platform, but that’s about to change! School Spirits begins streaming Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 on Netflix. This is certainly great news that I’m excited for! Even if you’re not a teen, I can tell you this show is a fun and intriguing watch. The show currently has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 92% audience score. That should definitely tell you something!

The series isn’t a Netflix original. It premiered March 9 earlier this year on Paramount+, which produced the production. However, it seems like the company wants to get more eyes on the show, allowing Netflix distribution rights. I mean, just look at how popular The CW’s Riverdale was and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy still is thanks to the projects both being made available on the streamer. A big part of their larger audience was due to Netflix viewers. Even Outlander has gained a wider following thanks to the seasons (slowly) being added to Netflix.

It’s still not clear whether School Spirit‘s episodes will remain on Paramount+, or be removed now that they’ll be available on Netflix, though the series did get a season 2 renewal. So there’s a chance we just might have two streaming options available! That’s honestly always the best!

All you need to know about School Spirits

School Spirits follows our central character, Maddie Nears, who is a teen murdered at her high school. Now, she’s stuck in the afterlife and has no idea what happened, per the synopsis. Who killed her and how will she be able to move on? Trying to find the answers to these questions, she starts to investigate her own murder from beyond the grave. And the more Maddie uncovers further details, the more secrets and lies she discovers.

The show has a total of eight episodes. And as mentioned above, all eight installments will begin streaming Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 on Netflix. Honestly, this would have been the perfect series to drop on Netflix in October or on Halloween day. But, we’ll take what we can get I guess. We provided the episode titles below:

Taking on the lead role of Maddie Nears is actress Peyton List. Joining the star onscreen are Kristian Flores as Simon Elroy, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire Zomer, Milo Manheim as Wally Clark, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, and Maria Dizzia as Sandra Nears.

According to Paramount+, production on the second season is set to begin in 2024. When next year though is still unknown. And while the writers strike has been resolved and scripts are probably being written, the actors are still on strike. And right now it’s hard to say when that strike can be resolved. Hopefully it doesn’t delay production on School Spirits season 2!
