2. Long Shot

  • Release Year: 2019
  • Director: Jonathan Levine
  • Cast: Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Bob Odenkirk, Alexander Skarsgård, Ravi Patel, Randall Park, James Saito, and Lisa Kudrow

In Long Shot, Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron), US Secretary of State, is endorsed for President of the United States by the current POTUS who isn’t running for a second term. After reconnecting at an event, Charlotte hires Fred (Seth Rogen), a former journalist whom Charlotte used to babysit as a kid as a speechwriter for her campaign. On the trail, Charlotte and Fred get a lot closer and a potential romance emerges.

Long Shot takes a very raunchy turn, but overall, it’s a really good comedy. Theron and Rogen have a unique chemistry that works well in the film. It’s definitely one of the funniest movies on Netflix right now.

Long Shot is one of the most popular new movies on Netflix in the fall of 2023, and it’s no surprise. Netflix subscribers love Charlize Theron movies and Seth Rogen movies, too. Theron starred in The Old Guard, which is one of the most popular of the Netflix original action movies. The Old Guard 2 is also in the works at Netflix. There are so many Seth Rogen movies on Netflix right now and on this list. He’s the king of raunchy comedies right now; that’s for sure.
