Comedian Bill Burr is back on Netflix, but this time it’s not with a comedy special. He returns to the streamer with a new comedy flick called Old Dads. If you’re looking forward to watching this movie, you must read on to find out everything there is to know about it.

Old Dads is an upcoming Netflix original movie helmed by Burr from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ben Tishler. The well-known comedian makes his directorial debut with this film.

You might recognize Burr from his Netflix comedy specials such as You People Are All the SameI’m Sorry You Feel That WayPaper TigerFriends Who Kill and Live at Red Rocks. He’s also the co-creator of the Netflix adult animated series F Is for Family.

When is Old Dads coming to Netflix?

The comedy movie is slated to land on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET. Of course, these release times only apply to people living on the West Coast and East Coast of the United States. If you’re in the Central time zone, you can expect the movie to drop at 2:00 a.m. CT on Oct. 20.

It’s a rated R film, meaning it’s only meant to be watched by mature, adult audiences. It was given this age rating for pervasive language, sexual material, nudity, and brief drug use. Overall, it may be inappropriate for ages under 17. Honestly, this age rating isn’t really surprising because most of Burr’s work isn’t for younger audiences. So if you have younger kids, we strongly recommend watching this movie when they’re not around.

What is Old Dads about?

It’s a comedy movie following three middle-aged best friends and fathers who find themselves struggling to let go of the ’80s to keep up with modern society while navigating the challenges of parenting and fatherhood.

Here’s the official logline via Netflix Media Center:

"Three best friends become fathers later in life and find themselves battling preschool principals, millennial CEOs and anything created after 1987."

Bill Burr stars in the leading role as Jack Kelly, a middle-aged father who finds himself behind the times. In addition, Bobby Cannavale and Bokeem Woodbine play the roles of Connor Brody and Mike Richards, Jack’s best friends who are struggling with the same problems. Katie Aselton, Rachael Harris, Jackie Tohn, Reign Edwards, and Miles Robbins also star in the film.
