Next up on our list of the best Netflix shows coming in 2023 is Vikings: Valhalla. Vikings: Valhalla returns with its second season on Jan. 12, so make sure to mark your calendar right away! Like the first season, Vikings: Valhalla season 2 consists of eight episodes that are each in the 40 to 50-minute range.

The second season takes place shortly after the fall of Kattegat. According to Netflix, the main characters find themselves “suddenly fugitives in Scandinavia,” where they are forced to “test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Kattegat.”

You can expect to see the return of Sam Corlett (Leif), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis), Leo Suter (Harald), Johannes Johnansson (Olaf the Stout), Bradley Freegard (King Canute), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), and David Oakes (Godwin) as series regulars in the second season. In addition, Pollyanna McIntosh (Queen Ælfgifu), Soren Pilmark (Sweyn Forkbeard), and John Kavanagh (The Seer) return as guest stars. You can also expect to see some new faces, such as Bradley James (Harekr), Hayat Kamille (Mariam), Marcin Dorocinski (King Yaroslav the Wise), and Sofya Lebedeva (Elena).

Fortunately, there’s still at least one more season of Vikings: Valhalla to come. Vikings: Valhalla season 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s confirmed to come out in 2024. Of course, you can count on us to share the release date once it’s announced.
