After a thrilling first season, we’re ready for more Vikings: Valhalla. More is happening, and Netflix now confirms how the episodes will be split.

When Vikings: Valhalla was picked up for a 24-episode order, we had a feeling that it would be split up into three seasons. That was even more the case when the first season was eight episodes long. Netflix tends to keep each season of a series the same length, so it would make sense to have two more seasons that were eight episodes long.

Netflix has now confirmed suspicions. In a press release, the streamer announced that Vikings: Valhalla seasons 2 and 3 are happening, and they will both be eight episodes long.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 release date update

At the same time, Netflix shared some exciting news about the second season of the Vikings spin-off. The episodes have been filmed. The show is now in post-production for season 2.

Does that mean the season will arrive in 2022? It would have potentially been possible, but Netflix confirms that we’ll get the season sometime in 2023. It could be in February 2023 so there’s a season each year. We’re probably expecting season 3 to arrive in 2024.

Production on Vikings: Valhalla season 3 will begin in the spring. This will allow it to wrap before this year is finished, making a 2024 release date more than plausible.

We’d love to see the episodes sooner, but there is a lot of post-production work to do for a series like this. There are many visual effects needed to make modern-day places look like they belong in the Viking period.

Jeb Stuart will remain as creator, showrunner, and executive producer on both other seasons. We’ll also see Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, and Leo Suter among the returning actors to the series.

Vikings: Valhalla is available to stream on Netflix.
