The messiest season of Netflix’s dating series Love Is Blind is probably about to get messier when the reunion airs this Sunday, October 15 at 8 p.m. ET. Love Is Blind season 5 wrapped up on Friday the 13th (how fitting) with its finale episode. Only two couples made it to the altar: Stacy Snyder and Ismael “Izzy” Zapata; and James Milton Johnson IV and Lydia Arlene Velez Gonzalez.

I won’t spoil whether the couples get married or not here, but you’ll want to finish the finale before watching the reunion this Sunday, that’s for sure.

The fifth season has stood out from the others because it has the least amount of couples but the most amount of behind-the-scenes drama. Several couples were actually cut from the final version of the season, so there could have been even more of a mess on our screens. Next time, production should just keep it all in, good or bad.

Remembering the Love is Blind season 4 reunion debacle

If you’re an avid fan of this dating series then you might remember the debacle that occurred this past spring when Netflix tried to air their first live reunion special for Love Is Blind season 4. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned and the eventual airing wasn’t even live. Technical difficulties caused significant delays and most people didn’t end up watching it until the following day.

It’s hard to make live reunions work. Not even the Real Housewives do them. Reunions can take time to get to the juicy stuff as the cast warms up after not seeing each other for months. There’s often lots of dead air that is better cut than put into the episode that makes it to airing. Netflix’s decision to not air the season 5 reunion live is probably the smartest choice.

However, the episode still has a unique airtime. Most Netflix content drops at midnight/3 a.m. ET, that won’t be the case this time. Love Is Blind season 5 reunion will be available to start watching on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET. It’s unclear how long it will be. So while you can’t start watching the second you get up on Sunday, you’ll be able to relax during primetime and join in the conversation on social media as many other fans watch at the same time!

Netflix also released a short teaser for the reunion, though it doesn’t give much away. Besides Milton, Lydia, Stacy, and Izzy, I’m sure we’ll be seeing many other people attending the reunion, like Uche, Aaliyah, Taylor, JP, Johnie, Chris, and more.
