A new month means new movies on Netflix, and one of the latest comedy movie additions has already found its way into the top 10. The 2013 comedy Identity Thief starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy arrived in October 2023 and hit our funny bones all over again 10 years later.

Along with Identity Thief, Netflix has added so many new movies in October for those who might not be looking for Halloween-centric titles. The Adjustment Bureau, Dune, The Amazing Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible, Sex and the City, and more are ready for our watch lists.

But what are the best comedies on Netflix right now? If you’re loving Identity Thief and are in the market for more laugh-out-loud movies, we’re sharing five of the latest movies you have to check out in October 2023 while they’re still available on Netflix and in the top 10.

Identity Thief

Jason Bateman stars in Identity Thief as Sandy Patterson, an accountant who discovers his identity has been stolen by a con artist named Diana, played by none other than Melissa McCarthy. His life is turned upside down when he takes matters into his own hands and embarks on a road trip to find and stop his identity thief. Sandy gets a little over his head when he and Diana end up working together to evade the criminals who are after her.

The film released in February 2013 and received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics, but its 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is simply wrong. Bateman and McCarthy are excellent together, and audiences clearly agreed. The movie made over $175 million worldwide against a $35 million budget, which shows the strengths of its leading stars. Ten years later, it’s still an unexpected and hilarious joy to watch, so don’t listen to those negative reviews.

Last Vegas

Another comedy movies recently added to Netflix that’s also celebrating its 10th anniversary, Last Vegas sped into the top 10 following its arrival in October 2023. The film stars Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline as a group of friends who take on Sin City to celebrate bachelor party of their final single pal. Las Vegas earned middling reception from critics and drew comparisons to The Hangover, albeit it’s much, much less explicit.

Spy Kids: Armageddon

Since its premiere on Netflix in late September, Spy Kids: Armageddon has been one of the most popular new Netflix movies of the fall so far. The reboot movie sees Zachary Levi and Gina Rodriguez taking on the roles of the spy parents of the new, precocious generation of spy kids. As luck would have it, the original trilogy will soon join the hit reboot on Netflix when they begin streaming on Oct. 13 for the perfect Spy Kids movie marathon.

Love is in the Air

This fall, romantic comedies have been finding success on Netflix, thanks to the original movies Love at First Sight and Love is in the Air. The latter stars Delta Goodrem as a pilot who happens to find herself falling for the man whose company looks to tank her family’s business. Don’t you just love an ironic twist of fate in a rom-com? As of the first of October, love is certainly in the air on the Netflix top 10 as the movie ranks right in the middle at number 5.

The House Bunny

One of the most underrated but also beloved comedies of the 2000s, The House Bunny hopped its way onto Netflix in October 2023. It’s the perfect time to rediscover the comedic brilliance of Anna Faris. In the movie, she plays a Playboy bunny who has been ousted from the mansion for being too old at 27 years old. She finds herself becoming the house mother of a flailing sorority and helps them find their inner sparkle. It’s an amazing throwback with an even more amazing cast!
