Reptile cast guide: Who stars in the Netflix movie?

Netflix has a penchant for releasing thriller films and television shows, that’s partly why David Fincher has worked with the streamer so many times and he even has a new movie on the way this November. But while we wait for Fincher’s return, you can check out the directorial debut of Grant Singer in the crime drama Reptile.

Reptile stars Benicio Del Toro as a hardened detective faced with one of the most complicated cases of his career, a case that could have ramifications for every facet of his life as things twist out of his control. Benicio Del Toro as Tom Nichols

Benicio Del Toro is an Academy Award-winning Puerto Rican actor who has won countless other awards and accolades throughout the years, including a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA. Some of his most popular roles of all time include his work in Sicario, Traffic, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sin City, The Usual Suspects, and portraying The Collector in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Reptile, Del Toro stars as Detective Tom Nichols, husband to Judy Nichols. Tom is assigned to a strange homicide case involving the brutal murder of a young realtor named Summer Elswick.

Recent years have seen Del Toro take roles in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and the Showtime miniseries Escape at Dannemora. He’s reportedly set to star in Oliver Stone’s next movie, White Lies, though there hasn’t been any updates on the film in several years.

Justin Timberlake as Will Grady

Justin Timberlake stars as Will Grady, the boyfriend of the victim and a suspect at the center of the investigation into her murder.

Timberlake is a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actor and musician known for his music career, beginning with the boy band NYSNC and then going solo, and his acting roles in The Social Network, Alpha Dog, Runner Runner, Bad Teacher, Palmer, and In Time. He has also been voicing the Trolls character Branch in multiple films and television spinoffs since 2016.

He’s next supposed to play Gong Show host Chuck Barris in a new project for Apple TV+.

Eric Bogosian as Captain Robert Allen

Eric Bogosian is a veteran actor and playwright who stars as Captain Robert Allen in Netflix’s Reptile, though the characters tend to refer to him as just “Allen.” His character is the uncle of Alicia Silverstone’s and is married to Deena Allen. He’s also Tom’s boss at the precinct.

Bogosian is no stranger to playing police captains as he starred as Captain Danny Ross for several seasons in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Most recently, Bogosian delivered a phenomenal turn as the titular interviewer Daniel Molloy in AMC+’s acclaimed series Interview with the Vampire.

He’s been in the entertainment industry for a long time and has been in many notable shows and movies, including Succession, Billions, The Get Down, and Uncut Gems. We anticipate his return to Interview with the Vampire as the series has been renewed for a second season!

Alicia Silverstone as Judy Nichols

Alicia Silverstone stars as Del Toro’s on-screen wife, Judy Nichols. Tom and Judy have been together for many years and are a constant pillar of support to one another, though the events of this movie could test their relationship in ways they’ve never faced before.

Silverstone is best known for her charming role as the ’90s teen movie queen Cher Horowitz in Clueless, but in recent years, you might have seen her in Senior Year, Requin, and even an episode of American Horror Stories. Next she’ll star in the Dutch comedy film Krazy House with Nick Frost and the disaster comedy Y2K.

Ato Essandoh as Dan Cleary

If you watch a lot of Netflix Originals then you might recognize Dan Cleary’s actor Ato Essandoh from his stellar work opposite Keri Russell in the political drama series The Diplomat, which will be returning for a second season.

Essandoh plays Nichols’ rookie partner in the film. The Diplomat is one of Essandoh’s most notable roles to date, though he did also star in the short-lived series Vinyl, Away, and Altered Carbon. On the movie side, the actor has appeared Dark Phoenix, Jason Bourne, Django Unchained, and more.

Michael Carmen Pitt as Eli Phillips

The character of Eli Phillips is pretty much your stereotypical creep. Eli Phillips has got the long greasy hair and a weird beef with one of the movie’s leads, plus he always seems to be near the scene of the crime, but does that mean he’s actually guilty?

As for Michael Carmen Pitt, he sort of excels at playing the weird guy and is known for playing Jimmy Darmondy in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and the horrifying film Funny Games. He’s also appeared in shows like Hannibal and Lisey’s Story and movies including Silk, Seven Psychopaths, and Bully.

Pitt stars in the 2023 films Black Files and Day of the Fight, both of which had their festival premieres (at Cannes and Venice, respectively) but have yet to get a wide release.
