Back in July 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix closed on a co-exclusive licensing deal where Netflix would receive former HBO shows. Some of the former HBO series that have already made their way to the streaming service include InsecureBallersThe Pacific and Band of Brothers. Now, we’re hearing that True Blood will be coming to Netflix soon. But will it land on Netflix US? Here’s what we know.

True Blood is hands down one of HBO’s most popular series. It premiered in September 2008 and ran for a total of seven seasons, ending its run in August 2014. Additionally, it received mostly positive reviews throughout its run, even winning several prestigious awards.

Based on the bestselling The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, True Blood centers around telepathic Louisiana waitress Sookie Stackhouse who encounters a strange new supernatural world when she meets and falls in love with 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton.

Anna Paquin starred in the leading role of Sookie Stackhouse, while Stephen Moyer played the role of Bill Compton. Alexander Skarsgård, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Chris Bauer, Nelsan Ellis, and many others were also in the cast.

Will True Blood be on Netflix in the United States?

As of Sept. 26, True Blood is not scheduled to make its way to Netflix US anytime soon. When it was announced which former HBO shows would be coming to Netflix US, True Blood was not included in the lineup. It was reported that the fantasy series would be added to Netflix outside the US. This hasn’t changed.

In fact, the official Netflix Spain Twitter/X account has just announced the release date for when all seven seasons of the fantasy series will be coming to Netflix Spain. According to the tweet, True Blood seasons 1-7 will land on Netflix Spain on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023. However, it’s unknown when the show will arrive in other international regions.
