Love, Death and Robots vol. 4 release updates, renewal, synopsis, episode count, and more
By D.J. Rivera
Netflix’s experimental science fiction anthology series Love, Death and Robots might not be the type of show you’d expect to become super popular on the streamer, but it’s already moving into its fourth season! The third volume released in 2022 to high praise and now fans are eagerly waiting for Love, Death and Robots season 4 to make its debut.
The only bad thing is that we really haven’t gotten much new information since Netflix initially announced the show’s renewal. Much of that is largely due to the Hollywood work stoppage amid the strikes. The good news is that it looks like the writer’s strike is coming to an end as the WGA and AMPTP have reached a tentative new deal. That means things should start moving along again within the next few months, so long as SAG-AFTRA can also make a deal with the studios.
Like some of Netflix’s other mind-bending titles (such as Black Mirror), Love, Death and Robots relishes in making viewers think outside the box. Some chapters are way over-the-top and even graphic at times, while others are quieter and slightly more subdued.
The series was developed by Tim Miller, who is known for directing Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate. In addition, Academy Award-nominated director David Fincher serves as an executive producer. There is no denying that they and the other talented creators have put out some great entries, but that won’t stop people from pondering about what’s next, including intel on Love, Death and Robots season 4.
Love, Death and Robots season 4 renewal
On August 12, 2022, Netflix announced with a social media post that Love, Death and Robots vol. 4 is officially happening. The announcement arrived almost two months after the third installment of the series premiered in May 2022.
The first renewal the show received in regards to season 2 came three months after the series debuted on the streamer. The third outing was announced before the second iteration arrived, and the news came at the same time as season 2’s trailer.
Love, Death and Robots season 4 synopsis
Along with the renewal for vol. 4, Netflix offered up some advanced information about the forthcoming new episodes. According to the new season’s press release, vol. 4 will contain nine episodes that range from stories about ancient evils to a comedic apocalypse.
Here’s what Netflix shared about the upcoming fourth season:
"“Terror, imagination and beauty combine in nine new episodes which stretch from uncovering an ancient evil to a comedic apocalypse, telling startling short stories of fantasy, horror and science-fiction with trademark wit and visual invention.”"
Is Love, Death and Robots season 4 filming?
Now that a fourth volume of the hit series has gotten the green light, we should be hearing news about production by the end of the year. As of September 2023, there aren’t any reports out there regarding the status of the season 4 production. That’s understandable given the upheaval in Hollywood right now amid the WGA and SAG strikes. Thankfully, there appears to be an end in sight, at least for the WGA strike, so we should get more information about the forthcoming fourth volume soon, hopefully before 2024.
Once a timetable for filming for vol. 4 becomes known, we’ll be sure to share the exciting news with fans. Until that time occurs, the exceptional first three seasons are there to experience over and over again.
Love, Death and Robots season 4 release predictions
While we were hoping to see the newest season in 2023, that’s definitely not happening. At this point, it seems unlikely that the show will continue until at least late 2024, maybe even 2025. It’s hard to predict right now until the strikes have fully ended and everyone has gotten back to work.
