Since the premiere of the series in 2020, we’ve seen a new season of Emily in Paris every year. The first season premiered in October 2020, and due to the positive reviews and viewership numbers, Netflix went ahead and renewed the show for a second season a month later.

After the second season premiered in December 2021, the romantic comedy series was renewed for not one but two seasons just a month later. This was a surprise and unexpected move by Netflix, but this was very good news for fans.

Since the third season was released back in December 2022, most of us have already watched all the episodes by now and are patiently waiting for the upcoming fourth season. Will Emily in Paris season 4 be released in 2023? Here’s what we know.

Is Emily in Paris season 4 filming?

As of Aug. 25, principal photography on Emily in Paris season 4 has not started. Production was initially slated to begin in late summer or early fall 2023 in Paris, but that has since changed, according to Variety. As reported by the news outlet, filming has been pushed back by two months, but the plan is still to start shooting by the end of fall. We’ll share more details about the production schedule once more information is revealed.

Is Emily in Paris season 4 affected by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike?

Unfortunately, the fourth season is affected by the writers and actors’ strike. In fact, the reason why production was delayed is because of the strike. It’s unclear if all the scripts were written before the writer’s strike started, but we do know that actors who are members of the SAG-AFTRA union are not allowed to work on major movie and TV productions right now. So, this is why filming hasn’t started yet. Sadly, this delay could be extended if a deal isn’t met.

Is Emily in Paris season 4 coming in 2023?

A 2023 release would’ve definitely been a possibility before the delay, but now we can pretty much count it out. We would’ve most likely seen another fall release like previous seasons, but that’s just impossible now.

Production hasn’t even started yet, and the show is “hoping” to get started on filming by the end of the fall. And we can’t forget that after the cameras stop rolling, the episodes will have to go through post-production to be edited. The filmmaking process just wouldn’t finish up in time to make a 2023 release.

So, as of right now, a 2024 release is more likely. Our guess is that we’re looking at a spring or summer 2024 release. A late 2024 release wouldn’t make sense, but we can’t completely count it out just yet. Once Netflix announces the official release date, you can count on us to share it with you right away.
