When is Heartland season 16 on Netflix US? (and 5 shows to watch while you wait)

Heartland, the longest-running one-hour drama series in Canadian television history, has been renewed for a seventeenth season, and the cast and crew are currently in the process of filming it as of Aug. 23. While this is good news for fans all over, Netflix U.S. fans are still waiting on Heartland season 16 to land on the streamer.

Netflix has a licensing deal with the show where it receives new seasons of the family drama sometime after they finish airing on CBC. Heartland season 16 aired on CBC from October 2022 to February 2023, and U.S. fans have been patiently waiting for the latest season to come to Netflix since it ended its run. While the streamer received the fifteenth season on May 31, 2023, Heartland season 16 still doesn’t have a Netflix U.S. release date. And it looks like it’ll be quite a while before Netflix U.S. gets its hands on the sixteenth season.

However, other regions, such as the U.K., have already received season 16. In fact, Heartland season 16 dropped on Netflix U.K. on May 17.

So, when could the sixteenth season make its way to Netflix U.S.? Here’s what we know.

When is Heartland season 16 coming to Netflix?

07/26/23 UPDATE: UP Entertainment announced that Heartland season 16 will air on its TV network, UPtv, starting on Aug. 6, 2023, with back-to-back episodes on its premiere night. Now, this means the sixteenth season can be watched on UPtv and UP Faith & Family.

Before Netflix U.S. receives Heartland season 16, it will be streamed exclusively on UP Faith & Family starting on June 1, 2023, with new episodes being added weekly. UP Faith & Family has an exclusive distribution arrangement with the show, and through the arrangement, the SVOD service is granted exclusive streaming rights for a specific period of time.

According to UP Faith & Family, it will only have exclusive streaming rights until 2024. This means the earliest Netflix U.S. could receive the sixteenth season is sometime in 2024.

Our best release prediction at the moment is sometime in early to mid-2024. However, keep in mind that this is pure speculation. We could see season 16 on Netflix U.S. later than what we predicted. We’ll just have to patiently wait and see what happens. And don’t worry because we’ll make sure to share the official Netflix release date once it’s announced.

However, we’re expecting UP Faith & Family to once again have exclusive streaming rights to Heartland season 17 in the U.S. for a specific period of time before Netflix receives the season. This isn’t confirmed, but we think this might happen again. So for now, our best release prediction for when Heartland season 17 could come to Netflix is sometime in 2025.
