Heartland season 16 is finally coming to Netflix US in June 2024 (and 8 shows to watch while you wait)

Heartland, the longest-running one-hour drama series in Canadian television history, finished airing its seventeenth season in Canada on CBC Television back in December 2023. While Canadian fans are currently waiting for an official season 18 renewal, U.S. fans are still waiting for Heartland season 16 to land on Netflix in their region. Well, we've got good news to share for all the U.S. fans out there. The official Netflix U.S. release date for Heartland season 16 has finally been revealed. More on this below.

Netflix has a licensing deal with the show where it receives new seasons of the family drama sometime after they finish airing on CBC. Heartland season 16 aired on CBC from October 2022 to February 2023, and U.S. fans have been patiently waiting for this season to come to Netflix since it ended its run. While the streamer received the fifteenth season on May 31, 2023, we still didn't have a Netflix U.S. release date for Heartland season 16.

However, other regions, such as the U.K., had already received season 16. In fact, Heartland season 16 dropped on Netflix U.K. back in May 2023. Although it's been a long wait, U.S. fans will get to see the sixteenth season very soon. How soon? In a little over a week!

When is Heartland season 16 coming to Netflix?

Get ready because Heartland season 16 is scheduled to land on Netflix U.S. on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Yes, that means all 15 episodes. The complete season will likely be released on the streaming platform at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on this date since that's when Netflix usually drops new content.

07/26/23 UPDATE: UP Entertainment announced that Heartland season 16 will air on its TV network, UPtv, starting on Aug. 6, 2023, with back-to-back episodes on its premiere night. Now, this means the sixteenth season can be watched on UPtv and UP Faith & Family.

Before Netflix U.S. receives Heartland season 16, it will be streamed exclusively on UP Faith & Family starting on June 1, 2023, with new episodes being added weekly. UP Faith & Family has an exclusive distribution arrangement with the show, and through the arrangement, the SVOD service is granted exclusive streaming rights for a specific period of time.

According to UP Faith & Family, it will only have exclusive streaming rights until 2024. This means the earliest Netflix U.S. could receive the sixteenth season is sometime in 2024.

Our best release prediction at the moment is sometime in early to mid-2024. However, keep in mind that this is pure speculation. We could see season 16 on Netflix U.S. later than what we predicted. We’ll just have to patiently wait and see what happens. And don’t worry because we’ll make sure to share the official Netflix release date once it’s announced.

When is Heartland season 17 coming to Netflix?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a Netflix release date for Heartland season 17 just yet. However, UP Faith & Family has exclusive streaming rights to Heartland season 17 in the U.S. until 2025. This is where U.S. fans can watch the seventeenth season for now. Once the agreement is up, the episodes should then eventually make their way to Netflix.
