Sausage Party parents guide: Is the movie on Netflix appropriate for kids?

Animated comedy film Sausage Party is making its debut Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023 on Netflix! The movie stars big names like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Salma Hayek, and more. Since it’s an animation, does that mean the movie on Netflix is appropriate for kids?

The production first made a theatrical release back in August 2016 by Columbia Pictures. Though there are some on-demand options online, the film hasn’t been part of a streaming service’s catalog until now, with its streaming debut just a couple of days away.

Rogen voices two characters – Frank and Sergeant Pepper; Jonah Hill is Carl; while Salma Hayek takes on the role of Teresa del Taco.

Sausage Party is rated R. Billed as a “raunchy” film, it was given this age rating due to strong crude sexual content, pervasive language, and drug use.

This isn’t really surprising since though the movie is animated, it’s an adult comedy. So it features a lot of adult humor.

A production is usually given a R rating if it contains adult material like harsh language, intense graphic violence, drug abuse, and nudity.

It’s recommended that those under 17 years old watch a parent or an adult supervising. Or, parents can watch it first and see how comfortable they might be with their teens streaming the film.
