Are Purple Hearts stars Nicholas Galitzine and Sofia Carson still friends?

In the summer of 2022, Netflix released the original romantic drama film Purple Hearts, and it quickly and unexpectedly became one of the most popular Netflix movies of all time. So much so that fans have been wanting stars Nicholas Galitzine and Sofia Carson to reunite for a sequel.

Based on the book of the same name by Tess Wakefield, Purple Hearts centers on aspiring singer-songwriter Cassie (Carson), who begins a relationship of convenience with Luke (Galitzine), an injured Marine who’s her complete opposite. Against all odds, their fake love becomes real.

Although the movie earned mostly negative reviews from critics, earning a score of 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers adored Cassie and Luke’s love story. The movie became one of 2022’s biggest Netflix movies and eventually ranked in Netflix’s all-time top 10 movies ranking.

Because of Nicholas Galitzine and Sofia Carson’s fiery chemistry, fans have often wondered if their relationship in the movie extended into a real-life friendship. As chatter about a sequel continues, here’s whether the Purple Hearts stars are still friends in 2023.

Are Nicholas Galitzine and Sofia Carson still friends?

While they might not be inseparable best friends as some co-stars can become, Nicholas Galitzine and Sofia Carson are surely still friends. Because they are both busy and in-demand talents, they likely haven’t been able to reunite since filming and promoting their movie.

Back in December 2022, Carson shared a post on Instagram celebrating her song “Come Back Home,” which was featured in Purple Hearts, being certified gold. Galitzine both liked the post and commented, “Nice one Carson.” Clearly, they are very supportive of each other.

In January 2023, while attending Milan Fashion Week with Fendi, Galitzine was asked about working with Carson on the movie and its subsequent success on Netflix. He noted that working with her was “incredible” and their chemistry was “immediately […] just so apparent.”

As the release of Red, White & Royal Blue neared in August 2023, fans on Twitter noted the differences in chemistry in promotional videos between Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez compared with Carson. But it seems like a case of looking for drama where there is none.
