As summer begins to wind down, there are still many new Netflix shows to look forward to. The streamer released 12 new titles this week, including the limited series Painkiller. Below are some great recommendations for your weekend binge, including two you can skip.

There are many great Netflix shows ranking in the top 10 this weekend. The second season of The Lincoln Lawyer and the latest season of Sweet Magnolias are two great shows to check out. Don’t miss out on the other top shows, including Heartstopper, My Happy Marriage, The Witcher, and A Perfect Story. 

There are still more exciting releases for August 2023, and the list for September 2023 includes many highly anticipated titles, including season 5 of Virgin River.

Painkiller

WATCH! Do not miss the highly anticipated Netflix original Painkiller. The limited series stars Matthew Broderick as billionaire businessman Richard Sackler, in charge of Purdue Pharma, developers of OxyContin. This is a fictionalized story of actual events regarding the opioid crisis in America. Exploring the origins and aftermath of OxyContin and the effects in the lives of the perpetrators, victims, and truth seekers.

Fatal Seduction volume 2

SKIP! The South African series Fatal Seduction is a tale as old as time. One partner believes the other is cheating, so they do the same, but this leads to one of them being at the center of a murder case. This one might be a good one to add to the queue for a rainy day, but you can skip it this weekend.

Zombieverse season 1

WATCH! The latest addition to the ever-growing list of reality series on Netflix is Zombieverse. With a title like that, viewers are anxious to see the latest Korean series to hit the streamer. This series puts 10 contestants into what they believe is a reality dating series. Things get exciting when they discover themselves in Seoul, which has been overrun by the undead. They must discover how to survive the horrors they encounter as they fight off the undead and search for supplies.

Pending Train season 1

SKIP! Pending Train is a Japanese sci-fi survival series. Passengers on a commuter train receive an earthquake alert on their phones and then find themselves transported to an unknown time. The passengers must then navigate the new landscape free of modern conveniences. The series is slow-paced, with characters who could be further developed, so skip it this weekend.

Fisk season 1

WATCH! The Australian comedy series Fisk first aired on ABC in 2021. Now season 1 is available on Netflix. The story is centered on Helen Tudor-Fisk, played by show creator and comedian Kitty Flanagan, a lawyer who, after her marriage falls apart, moves from Sydney back to her hometown of Melbourne. There she settles for a job in a low-rent will and probate firm as she tries to recover from a low point in her life.
