When is New Amsterdam season 5 coming to Netflix?

In the beginning of 2023, New Amsterdam made quite the streaming splash on Netflix. Just before the series finale in January 2023, the first two seasons began streaming at the top of the year, and the third and fourth followed in February. But what about New Amsterdam season 5?

When four seasons of New Amsterdam dropped on Netflix, they became a staple in the top 10 most popular shows on the service. New fans were discovering the fan-favorite NBC medical drama, and old fans were rewatching the series from the very beginning.

Sadly, the fifth and final season hadn’t yet arrived on Netflix by August 2023, but there’s some good news on that front! While season 5 can be watched Peacock (along with the preceding four seasons) and NBC’s website, those who binge-watched the series on Netflix are understandably wondering when it’s coming to the streamer.

Here’s everything fans need to know about the status of New Amsterdam’s fifth and final season and when it’s coming to Netflix. As more information becomes available, we’ll update this post. The latest update was made on Aug. 23, 2023.

Is New Amsterdam season 5 still coming to Netflix?

On Aug. 23, Netflix finally announced that New Amsterdam season 5 will begin streaming on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

As mentioned above, season 5 also remains available to stream on both NBC’s website as well as Peacock. Both of these NBCUniversal-owned properties clearly have an exclusive licensing deal over the final season, but now we know that exclusivity ends in September. Hopefully, Suits season 9 is in a similar position.

Prior to the exciting announcement, we hoped season 5 would drop on Netflix later this fall or sometime before 2023 ends, maybe even arriving in January 2024 one year after the series ended its run on NBC. Thankfully, the wait will end for fans very, very soon.
