Since Heartstopper first premiered on Netflix in April 2022, its young cast has shot to instant fame, especially the show’s pair of leads Joe Locke and Kit Connor. Thanks to their heartfelt portrayals of the show’s teens, fans have flocked to the stars, shooting their social media followings into the millions.
In the series, Kit Connor plays Nick Nelson, a rugby player learning more about himself and his sexuality as he pursues a crush on his classmate Charlie Spring (Locke). Inevitably, due to the romantic nature of the series and the increase in interest in the stars’ personal lives (sometimes to a negative degree), fans are wondering if Connor is taken in real life, too.
As Heartstopper season 2 begins streaming on Netflix in August 2023, we’re looking into what’s been made public about Connor’s personal life while respecting the boundaries he has deservingly and necessarily put in place in the wake of his newfound fame.
Is Kit Connor single?
As of August 2023, all signs point to Kit Connor being single. He hasn’t shared this particular information about his personal life to his 5 million Instagram followers, as he mostly shares selfies and posts connected to his work engagements.
When Heartstopper was released in April 2022, fans around the world wondered if he and costar Joe Locke were dating in real life, due to their amazing on-screen chemistry. However, they appear to be the best of friends.
Connor was also connected to his costar Maia Reficco, who he stars with in the upcoming movie A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, after they were pictured holding hands. Those rumors have never been confirmed or materialized in anything more than just that — rumors.
In fact, these rumors caused internet trolls to force the then 18-year-old actor to come out as bisexual after allegations of “queerbaiting” were thrown his way for potentially dating a woman when he plays a bisexual teen on Heartstopper. Connor received an outpouring of support from his Heartstopper family following the incident, and he’s since deleted his Twitter account.
Just like his costars, fans should continue to have nothing but support for Connor as he keeps his personal life private and out of the spotlight.
