It’s a brand new school year, and shy teen girl Marinette isn’t too excited about attending a new high school. After her first day, she makes her way home and is confronted by school bully Chloe. As she runs away from Chloe, she sees a mysterious old man about to get hit by a bus, so she swoops in and saves him.

The old man is actually a guardian of magical jewels, and he’s looking for two heroes to save the world from supervillain Hawk Moth. Since Marinette saved him from getting hit by a bus, the mystical old man believes she’s the chosen one. But Marinette thinks he’s crazy and runs away from him. However, she’s eventually found by the ladybug Kwami of Creation and is transformed into the superhero Ladybug.

Elsewhere, the Kwami of Destruction finds reserved teen boy Adrien and plants a magical ring behind a trash can for him to find. This ring transforms Adrien into the superhero Cat Noir.
