Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie is a French kid animated film based on the popular animated television series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. You can stream the first three seasons of this animated show on Netflix. A Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Christmas special is also available to stream on Netflix.

The superhero film was first announced in 2018, with production starting in 2019. Jeremy Zag signed on to direct the film and co-write the screenplay with Bettina Lopez Mendoza. Additionally, the movie had a budget of a whopping $86 million (€80 million), making it the second most expensive French film ever made.

It tells the origin stories of teen superheroes Lady Bug and Cat Noir. It takes place before the Miraculous animated series. When socially anxious Marinette saves an old man from being hit by a bus, he gives her a Miraculous gem, transforming her into a superpowered being named Ladybug. Meanwhile, lonely teen boy Adrien finds another Miraculous gem and is turned into the superhero Cat Noir. Together, they must save Paris from the supervillain Hawk Moth and his evil minions.

Cristina Vee Valenzuela as Marinette/Ladybug

Cristina Vee not only voices Marinette and Ladybug in the Miraculous movie but also in the animated series. Marinette is a shy teen girl who dreams of one day becoming a fashion designer. She also has a crush on her popular classmate, Adrien Agreste. Once she becomes Ladybug, she finds herself struggling with her new responsibility and powers. It’s not easy, but she and Cat Noir must do everything they can to put a stop to Hawk Moth.

Bryce Papenbrook as Adrien/Cat Noir

Bryce also voices Adrien and Cat Noir in the Miraculous animated series. Adrien is the sheltered and emotionally distant son of legendary fashion designer Gabriel Agreste. But after he transforms into Cat Noir, his demeanor changes and he becomes happy about his new powers. He also finds himself falling for his superhero partner, Ladybug, not knowing that she’s really his new friend at school, Marinette.

Keith Silverstein as Gabriel Agreste/Hawk Moth

Keith also voices Gabriel and Hawk Moth in the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir television series. Gabriel Agreste is a well-known fashion designer who becomes wracked with grief after losing his wife. He uses the Butterfly Miraculous to transform into Hawk Moth and begins wreaking havoc in Paris while on a mission to find the Miraculous gems he needs to bring his wife back to life.
