No matter what sport athletes get into, there’s no question that these people are some of the strongest around! Now, when you get into extreme sports, that’s at a whole other level. Have you heard of freediving? Because that’s what you can expect to see in Netflix’s new documentary The Deepest Breath streaming soon.

Freediving is an extreme sport that sees athletes rely on holding their breath underwater while diving, without using anything to help them breathe underwater like scuba gear. They train to be able to hold their breath for long periods of time while diving meters deep into a body of water. In a competition, the person who can go down the farthest wins.

The Netflix film, directed by Laura McGann, features Italian freediver Alessia Zecchini, Irish freediver and safety specialist Stephen Keenan, Russian freediver Natalia Molchanova, and Italian freediver Homar Leuci. The documentary takes place in a number of spots around the world including Long Island, New York, the Bahamas, Rome, the West Coast of Ireland, and more.

The production begins streaming Wednesday, July 19, 2023. So what will you see from these incredible athletes? What does the doc focus on? We’ve got the answer for you below!
