Have you been looking for a show to fill the void left behind by Gossip Girl? If so, then Netflix’s soapy new Korean drama series Celebrity might be just the thing. The series is already a hit on Netflix, so is Celebrity season 2 in the works?

Park Gyu-young, a rising South Korean actress who also stars in Sweet Home and will soon join the cast of Squid Game season 2, stars as aspiring influencer Seo A-ri. Desperate for online validity, A-ri finds herself taken in by the dark side of social media as her presence grows, and she catches the attention of a seemingly helpful ally who goes by bbbfamous. But is A-ri prepared for the cost of fame?

Here’s everything we know about Celebrity season 2 and the show’s renewal status.

Is Celebrity season 2 happening?

Renewal status: No decision has been made on the show’s future.

The 12-episode Korean drama was released on June 30, 2023, so we might not hear about what Netflix plans to do with the show for a while. That being said, Celebrity is off to a fantastic start as the show is the number one series on Netflix’s Top 10 chart for non-English shows, with more than 7.5 million views since it was released.

However, Celebrity also wraps up its main storyline by the end of season 1. We learn who bbbfamous is and find out what happens to Seo A-ri. Many Korean shows only have one season, as the writers usually tell a complete story within a finite number of episodes. But there are also plenty of shows that have gone on for multiple seasons. It will all depend on what the writers, and Netflix, have in mind for the show’s future.

Netflix has been investing significantly in Korean content, so there is a good chance Celebrity will return, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned to Netflix Life for more details on Celebrity season 2.
