I Just Killed My Dad

Another three-episode docuseries on this list is I Just Killed My Dad, a gripping story that came out in Aug. 2022. When the series begins, we learn that a young man named Anthony Templet had shot and killed his father Burt, and then turned himself in to the cops pretty much right away. Of course, viewers’ first reaction is that he’s in the wrong, but as the story unfolds we learn more about Anthony’s concerning childhood and the abuse he faced at the hands of his dad.

The docuseries is a complicated look at justice as we get the full picture of what really happened between Anthony and Burt.

When Burt’s murder caught national attention, people from Anthony’s past turned up looking for him, revealing dark secrets from his childhood and shining a light on why Anthony felt unsafe living with his father.

I Just Killed My Dad also follows Anthony as he prepares to go to trial and his defense team’s efforts to prove the case is not as black and white as it seems. His lawyer fully believed Anthony did not deserve jail time for what occurred.

We won’t share what the verdict was here to avoid potential spoilers, but we’d definitely recommend I Just Killed My Dad if you’re looking for a quick docuseries with many twists and turns.
