Where is Heartland filmed? (filming locations)

Heartland season 15 was added to Netflix US in May 2023, and it didn’t take long for people to stream all 10 episodes. Now, they’re wondering when the sixteenth season will make its way to the streamer. It’ll be a while before this happens, but the good news is that the upcoming Heartland season 17 will also land on Netflix at a later date.

Heartland is the longest-running one-hour scripted drama in Canadian television history. It follows the lives of the Fleming-Bartlet family as they run their ranch (Heartland) while going through the highs and lows of life together.

Since the show has been going on for a long time, we’ve seen the cast change over the seasons. However, the main cast has pretty much remained the same. Amber Marshall, Michelle Morgan, Shaun Johnston, and Chris Potter have been in every season so far. We’ve also seen some original cast members exit the series, such as Graham Wardle, who played Ty Borden. Additionally, there have been new cast additions joining the show in the later seasons, such as Ava Tran (Parker), Baye McPherson (Katie Fleming-Morris), and Drew Davis (Logan).

Heartland filming locations (Where does Heartland take place?)

Heartland is set in the fictional town of Hudson, Alberta, and is shot entirely in Canada. More specifically, in Alberta, Canada. The show is primarily filmed on location in and around the town of High River, Alberta, which doubles for the fictional town Hudson.

The Heartland ranch is actually a privately owned, working ranch in Millarville, Alberta. Millarville is a small town near High River. Since it’s privately owned, you cannot visit this ranch for a tour. When it comes to the races and rodeo scenes, they are believed to be shot at the Millarville Farmers’ Market and Race Track, according to Equine Helper.

Many of the interior shots are filmed inside the CBC studio in Calgary, Alberta. For example, scenes taking place inside of the Heartland ranch house and the vet clinic are actually filmed on sets in a studio.

Additionally, Maggie’s Diner, Tack and Feed is not an actual diner or a tack and feed store. It’s a set located in High River that you can visit and take photos in front of.

According to Heartland‘s IMDb page, the show is also filmed in different locations in Longview, Alberta, Canada, and Kananaskis Country, Alberta, Canada.
