Missing: Dead or Alive is Netflix’s latest addicting true crime docuseries, and already viewers are hankering for more information on the investigators at the center of the series and the cases they solve. Released on May 10, 2023, many people have taken to social media clamoring for more episodes or seasons.

At just four episodes, it’s not surprising people are looking for more since four episodes is pretty short for any series. However, if you look at other documentary shows released by Netflix, you’ll notice that three to four is a standard number for many of them. But what sets Missing: Dead or Alive apart from those is its concept.

Each episode features one or two cases, and they follow through to show you how the story is resolved, whether the investigators find the missing person in question, or, in at least one case, if it ends in tragedy.

Given the nature of this show, it would be easy for Netflix to produce additional episodes or seasons. Unlike documentaries focused on one singular case, Missing: Dead or Alive focuses on the many different cases being pursued by the Richland County deputies. Knowing more than 2,300 children go missing in the United States daily, there is clearly no shortage of cases to cover.

Will there be more episodes of Missing: Dead or Alive?

It seems unlikely that Netflix will release more episodes of this show, at least not anytime soon. If you looked up any of the cases mentioned in the four episodes available, you might have noticed they are all from 2020 or 2021. That means Netflix made this show several years ago.

It’s unclear why it took so long for it to be released, but if more episodes are going to be produced, we likely won’t see another season for at least a little while. Netflix hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the show’s future, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Additional seasons could focus on investigators in other states or counties, though it’d also be cool to stay with the Richland County team and investigators like Vicki Rains.
