It’s officially a new year, and we can’t believe it! Last year flew by, but luckily, there were so many good Netflix shows released throughout 2023. But there's still so many shows from years past and coming up in the future and so little time. What should you watch first?

Netflix is cranking out so many shows, and it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind. Our team of TV experts at Netflix Life put together a list of the best Netflix shows to watch right now, and we also included a decent collection of Netflix shows you can skip.

If you’re looking for what to watch on Netflix tonight, this is the list for you. We update this list as new Netflix original shows are released. If it’s a hit show, we’re sharing recommendations to watch. If the show is bad, well, it’s going to be a skip recommendation from us!

Let’s get the list started with one of the biggest current hits on Netflix, The Gentlemen.

The Gentlemen

Seasons: 1

Created by: Guy Ritchie

Cast: Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, and Ray Winstone

A spinoff of the 2019 movie of the same name, The Gentlemen gives rise to a new batch of colorful Guy Ritchie characters with a charming duo at its center, portrayed by Theo James and Kaya Scodelario.

Newly-crowned Duke of Halstead Eddie Horniman finds himself at the epicenter of the drug business when his father passes and leaves him his family's entire estate, including a dairy farm conveniently housing one of several marijuana grow houses belonging to the Glass family empire. Eddie's first order of business is to divest his family from all business dealings with the criminal dealings, but extricating himself from the deal his father made will be easier said than done.

Eddie finds himself torn between two realities, the one where he really does kick Susie and her business off his land, and the one where he slowly begins to enjoy his dealings with the criminal underworld. It turns out, he's actually quite good at it. His and Susie's arc heads in several fun, adventurous, and sometimes silly, directions throughout the eight-episode first season, with all of the snarky dialogue and gangster violence that fans have come to expect from Ritchie's projects.
