Obsession is Netflix’s latest erotic thriller, and with the popularity of the 365 Days trilogy (they made three of them, after all) and Sex/Life, this will likely at least make it into the streaming service’s Top Ten.

It also doesn’t hurt that the cast is filled with well-known actors. Richard Armitage is well-known for the Hobbit series, North and South, the Robin Hood series, and MI-5. He’s also no stranger to Netflix as the star of The Stranger, Stay Close, Space Sweepers, and Castlevania.

Obsession also stars Charlie Murphy from Peaky Blinders and The Last Kingdom, Indira Varma from Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Rish Shah from Ms. Marvel and To All the Boys: Always and Forever.

The series hits Netflix on Thursday, April 13, 2023. But what exactly is the new show about?

What is Netflix’s Obsession about?

Obsession is based on the 1991 Josephine Hart book, Damage. The story follows William, a man who seems to have it all. A successful career, a beautiful wife (played by Indira Varma), more than enough money, and a wonderful family. But as the miniseries goes on, he is shown to have a huge secret. He’s sleeping with his son’s fiancée, Anna (played by Charlie Murphy). Yikes!

And as you might guess from the show’s title, things turn toward the dangerous. This is more than just passion, lust, or even love. It’s Obsession. And as an erotic thriller, there will be plenty of sex, lies, mystery, and suspense.

For those who have read the book, it will be interesting to see what changes and how they feel about those changes. Phones and the internet will most likely have a much more significant role than they did in the book.
