Does Adam die in You season 4 part 2? (Spoilers)

Who’s ready for more episodes of You? The highly-anticipated fourth season finally came to Netflix in February, but with a catch. The streamer decided to split the new installment into two parts, with the first five episodes releasing on Feb. 9, and the remaining five episodes coming out today, March 9. You season 4 sees Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) living under a new identity in London, England. After killing Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) and faking his own death in the finale of You season 3, he’s starting fresh across the pond. But his problematic past and inner demons won’t let him move on that easily. The new season introduces viewers to a whole new group of characters, including Joe’s new friend group. This includes his new girlfriend Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) and her wealthy friends like Adam (Lukas Gage).

When Joe meets Adam in You season 4 part 1, he’s seemingly in a happy relationship with Lady Phoebe (Tilly Keeper), but as we learn more about the couple, we realize it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Though one could argue that Adam does love Phoebe, he’s also using her for her wealth. And when Kate overhears him bragging to a friend that he’ll have so much more money once he marries Phoebe in part 2, she tries to intervene. Kate tells Phoebe she can’t marry Adam, but Phoebe doesn’t listen.

Adam and Phoebe end up getting married, but that same night she gets admitted to a psychiatric facility. Upon hearing the news the next morning, Kate is extremely angry with Adam for taking advantage of Phoebe and driving her to this point, and she makes the mistake of mentioning it to her father, Tom Lockwood (Greg Kinnear).

Tom is one of the most powerful and wealthy men in the world, and if his daughter is upset with someone, he’ll do whatever it takes to stop that person. And yes, that includes murder.

What happens to Adam in You season 4?

After Kate complains about Adam to her father, he ends up dead. Yep, unfortunately, Adam is murdered. Once Kate sees his death reported on in the news, she goes to confront her father about it, convinced he was to blame. Tom does take responsibility, asking Kate why she would even bring him up to him if she didn’t want him dead.

Though Kate doesn’t know exactly how it happens, viewers do get to see the moments leading up to Adam’s death. While Phoebe is in the facility, Adam decides to be unfaithful and we see him in bed with another woman. But things go sideways when the woman invites two men to come into the room who are armed with weapons. They take knives out of their bag and start beating Adam up, despite him repeatedly saying his safe word.

We can assume these men were sent by Tom to kill Adam, and that’s what ends up happening.

Although Adam wasn’t exactly innocent, he certainly didn’t deserve to die. And he’s hardly the only death in You season 4 part 2.
