Next in Fashion season 2 is now on Netflix after a surprising resurrection. Before diving into the ten new episodes available and finding out who is crowned the winner of season 2, fans might be curious to find out what happened to the Next in Fashion season 1 winner, Minju Kim.

Fans of the design-based competition series know it was canceled shortly after premiering in 2020, but then Netflix reversed its cancellation decision and brought the show back for a second season. Gigi Hadid replaced Alexa Chung as co-host opposite Tan France (Queer Eye).

Kim became an early frontrunner on the show thanks to her showstopping collaborations with Chinese designer Angel Chen during the team-based part of the season. Once the show shifted to individual designers rather than teams, Kim ended up coming out on top. In the finale, it was Minju Kim against British designer Daniel Fletcher.

The finalists had three days to create a complete ten-piece collection with the assistance of three sewers. Kim was inspired by the painter Frida Kahlo and ultimately won the competition.

Where is the Next in Fashion season 1 winner now?

The South Korean designer received $250,000 and a chance to launch a collection for the luxury fashion retailer Net-a-Porter.

After winning the show, Kim went on to collaborate with the H&M Group and launched the Minjukim collection, which quickly sold out online from the Korean website where it was sold. She recently launched a fall apparel line in 2022 and has advertised and shared her designs on her Instagram and official website. Several notable celebrities follow Kim on her social media, like Riverdale star Lili Reinhart and more.
