Sex/Life season 2, episode 4 recap: The Weakness in Me

Lord, we’re into the second half of Sex/Life season 2, and all I can think is: ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE SO MESSY. Also, why is basically everyone on this show a cheater!?

As expected, Cooper is continuing his downward spiral by sleeping with his college-aged Uber driver. At least he’s finally staying at his brother’s apartment in the city, the place he originally told his lawyers he was residing. Spence tries giving his brother a pep talk, telling him that deep down he is a good guy (is he though?) and that he needs to deal with the trauma related to his divorce without just sleeping around.

Cooper takes that advice to heart and finally tries talking to Francesca. Well, by this point in time she’s figured out that Cooper has been lying to her. Devon knows what happened with Trina and told Francesca, who kicks Cooper out of her apartment along with all of his stuff.

A depressed Cooper goes to a bar and gets wasted, blowing off plans he made with his own son. He almost gets into a heated fight with the bartender when he tries cutting Cooper off, but Cooper’s ex, Emily, saves the day.

MORE: Sex/Life refresher: Who is Emily?

What is with these random blond women arriving to help Cooper (or proposition him) seemingly out of nowhere? It’s like the three blonds of Christmas past, present, and future between Emily, the woman at the Chinese restaurant, and Trina. Emily gives Cooper a pep talk, telling him he’s a good guy deep down, blah, blah, blah. Cooper tries kissing her, because of course he does, and she says no, she can’t do that right now, but she’ll be there when he gets his life together, I guess.

Life isn’t going much better for Brad, who has become embroiled in a huge, scandalous lawsuit. As the producer and CEO of a record label, he’s being sued in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit alleging fraud. Once Billie hears the news, she immediately reaches out to be there for Brad “as a friend.” She goes to the loft to talk to him, and the two almost kiss, but Billie puts a stop to it.

Later, she gets a text from Gigi asking her to come to her photoshoot. There, Gigi confronts Billie about her showing up at the loft. Gigi has a security camera set up, so she saw Billie go inside. She pleads with Billie to back off and give her a chance with Brad since Billie already had hers.

After seeing Brad, Billie decides to give Majid another chance. He’s waiting at her apartment building with a bouquet of roses and explains that Crystal was an investor and they previously had an arrangement exchanging sex for finances, basically. But he makes it clear to Billie that he and Crystal are done. We gloss right over that implied prostitution but okay. They makeup, and that leads to them…having sex on a Ferris wheel?

Across the city, Gigi goes into labor and Brad barely makes it there on time to see his son born.

Other important developments in this episode include Billie, Trina, and Caroline going on a spa trip to celebrate Caroline’s birthday. While there, Trina and Billie patch things up after the whole Cooper/Trina/handcuffs debacle in a bizarre scene where they’re naked and doing seaweed wraps on each other. Also, Caroline is having an affair with a predatory masseuse named Sven who tries to go down on all of his female clients.

Trina wants to report him until Caroline says that Sven does that to everyone and begs her not to because she likes it. What even is this show?

Anyway, Caroline says she loves her husband, but she doesn’t like having sex with him and intends to continue sleeping with Sven even though he’s literally committing a crime and who knows what he’s done to other women like Trina who weren’t into it.

Then there’s Sasha who has a big choice to make: her career or Kam. Mick tells her in no uncertain terms that Kam has to go, at least in her public life. Sasha tries to convince Kam that they need to break up publicly but can continue to see each other in private. Kam isn’t into that, he doesn’t want to live a lie, and he tells Sasha she needs to choose.

Well, the next time we see Sasha, she’s on the red carpet promoting her new book, Unattached while Kam watches from his office. So it looks like she’s made her decision.

As Sex/Life season 2, episode 4 comes to an end, we catch up with Trina again. She leaves Devon and tells him she wants a divorce, which seems to be good timing because the episode suggests that Devon wants to make a move on a newly single Francesca.
