After close to two years of waiting, Sex/Life is finally back with six new episodes! What can we expect from Sex/Life season 2? Will Billie and Brad get together? Are Cooper and Billie headed toward divorce? Those questions and many more will be answered in the following recap guide, which follows the entirety of Sex/Life season 2.

Sex/Life is a steamy Netflix romantic drama starring Sarah Shahi as Billie, a housewife who grows unhappy with her marriage as she begins longing for the uninhibited woman she used to be living in New York with her best friend Sasha. At the end of season 1, Billie was on track to fix things in her marriage to Cooper, but then in a shocking finale twist, she ran back to her ex-boyfriend, Brad, and asked him to sleep with her. Where will the story go from there?

Sex/Life season 2, episode 1 recap: Welcome to New York

Sex/Life season 2 picks up six months after Billie (Sarah Shahi) showed up at Brad’s (Adam Demos) apartment and things didn’t go down how you might expect. Brad turned Billie down that night because he’s already moved on to someone new, a supermodel named Gigi (Wallis Day) who is pregnant with his child. Damn, Brad moves fast!

Since getting rejected by Brad, Billie has separated from Cooper (Mike Vogel) and moved into an apartment in New York while she and Cooper go through a bitter divorce. Billie returns to Connecticut for three days a week to be with her kids, Hudson and Ellary. But now that she’s officially single again, her best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette) is intent on getting Billie back out there.

On their first night out, Billie hits it off with a sexy restauranteur named Majid (Darius Homayoun). Despite being unflinchingly honest with Majid about her ex troubles, divorce, kids, and overall angst, he’s very interested in her. They have a great time together, but when Majid goes in for a kiss, Billie can’t bring herself to follow through.

Billie isn’t the only one who’s made big strides in her life. Since we last saw Sasha, she’s become a successful big-time author with her book The Third Way. She recently turned down a proposal from Alex, the guy she was seeing in season 1 (remember “choking guy?”). Sasha is doing the talk show rounds and going on a book tour to promote her “independent woman” lifestyle. She’s proud to be single and unattached.

The arrival of her ex, Kam (Cleo Anthony), threatens to upend her carefully constructed career. Through flashbacks, we learn that Sasha once almost gave up her career and her dreams for Kam after he tried convincing her to follow him to California so he could attend Stanford. Sasha doesn’t want that to happen again. However, there’s also no denying the chemistry between them.

She agrees to a date with Kam where he, once again, tries going from 0 to 60, proposing they get serious and try their relationship again. Sasha freaks out and returns home where she calls Alex for a late-night booty call and to distract her from Kam.

While all of this is going on, we also catch up with Cooper who has since officially moved on with his boss, Francesca (Li Jun Li). Sex/Life season 2 also introduces us to another series newcomer, Cooper’s gay brother Spence, played by Orphan Black alum Dylan Bruce. We don’t learn too much about Spence just yet, only that he’s a lawyer living in New York with his boyfriend and seems to be playing the role of Cooper’s conscience this season as Cooper grapples with his new, post-Billie life.

Francesca and Cooper have been going at it like bunnies since Cooper separated from Billie, including fooling around in the office. Of course, they end up getting caught sans pants, about to bang on an office table at the end of the premiere.

After discussing her night out with Majid, Sasha convinces Billie to go for it. What does she have to lose? Billie returns to Majid’s restaurant where they have a steamy kiss, and, as luck would have it, that’s the moment Brad and a heavily pregnant Gigi arrive.

It turns out that Brad is one of Majid’s restaurant investors, the two are friends. Given the way Billie and Brad stare at each other (and because Billie told Majid about her messy entanglements with her mysterious ex who got another woman pregnant), Majid quickly clocks Brad as “the guy” she mentioned. Drama!
