Back in the 2010s, one of the biggest film franchises burning up the box office was The Hunger Games, which made Academy Award-winner Jennifer Lawrence a movie star. Based on the best-selling young adult novel trilogy by Suzanne Collins, the dystopian saga defined the era.

Lawrence stars as 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a gifted archer from the poor coal-mining District 12 in Panem, which is ruled by the corrupt Capitol. When her younger sister’s name is pulled for the Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to compete in her place.

Throughout the movies, Katniss navigates her identity as both a player and victor in the games, taking on the trauma of the brutal ritual. In The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Katniss assumes her role as the Mockingjay and leads the war on President Snow.
