There were a few things we hoped would happen in Outer Banks season 3. One of those was John B and Big John reuniting. Did that happen?

Caution: There are spoilers from Outer Banks season 3 in this post.

At the end of Outer Banks season 2, we found out that everything we thought we knew was wrong. Big John hadn’t died after all. He was trapped and separated from his son, and all we wanted to see was the two of them reunited during the third season.

Would that happen, though? Would John B find out that his father was alive and gain the happy moment he deserved?

Outer Banks season 3 spoilers: Did John B and Big John reunite?

John B has certainly gone through a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the series. At first, Big John was presumed dead but there was never that confirmation. John B refused to believe his dad was dead until Ward shared everything that happened on that fateful day. After that, John B and we as the audience feared the worst.

Then the season 2 finale brought us exciting news. Big John was alive!

There was some great news early in the season. John B learned that his father was actually alive after all that time of believing the worst. The two had the chance to reunite, and so started a journey that would see Big John step up in the way any loving father would.

It all happened in episode 2 and into episode 3. Big John had to get word to John B that he was alive, and used the way he did when John B was a kid: ringing the bells. John B realized that it had to be his father so left the rest of the Pogues to get to the church the bells were ringing from. Yes, it brought goosebumps getting that moment.

There were a few moments when John B’s life was at risk. As early as episode 4, a pair of smugglers come across the two Johns. Big John ends up killing the smugglers to save his son.

At the end of the season, it was John B’s turn to return the favor. As Ward aimed a gun at Big John, his son stepped in the way. Then Sarah stepped in the way of that, showing her love for John B. Ward wasn’t going to get what he wanted.

There is more hope of John B and Big John moments in Outer Banks season 4, and we are very much here for it.
