Sarah and John B is hands down the best couple on Outer Banks and there’s just no arguing that. One of the main reasons people love the pairing is because of how different they are. They came from different walks of life yet found each other and created an unbreakable bond. Viewers loved the fictional couple so much that they had even hoped the actors behind the characters were dating in real life. Luckily for the fans, Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes did actually become an item, but they ended up breaking things off for good in 2021.

Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes met on the set of Outer Banks in 2019, and it didn’t take long for sparks to start flying. But people didn’t begin to speculate that they were dating until after the first season was released in April 2020. However, Madelyn and Chase chose to keep their relationship under wraps for the time being. It wasn’t until June 2020 when Chase announced to the world that he and Madelyn were in a relationship via a post on his Instagram page.

After they went public as a couple, they began to post each other more on their social media accounts. They even starred in a steamy music video together and made their red carpet debut at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in May 2021. But sadly, their relationship came to an end in November 2021 after dating for over a year.

Following their break up, they were spotted out together a couple of times, leading people to believe they had gotten back together. But it’s unclear if this actually happened. Yes, it appears Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes are still friends or at least cordial with each other. Are they close friends? Probably not. Being cordial with an ex may not be hard, but becoming close friends isn’t what typically happens. The main reason we believe Madelyn and Chase aren’t close friends is because of how awkward they seem to act around one another. In recent interviews to promote Outer Banks season 3, they’re always seated far away from each other and barely speak.

However, we could be reading too much into things and they could be good friends. Who knows, they could’ve purposefully sat away from each other to not spark dating rumors. Remember, they are dating other people at the moment. Chase is dating singer-songwriter Kelsea Ballerini, and Madelyn is rumored to be dating singer-songwriter Jackson Guthy.

But regardless of whether they’re friends are not, we’re just happy they don’t let their past relationship mess with their work life. This is something Madelyn and Chase agreed not to do when they first started dating. Since they play a couple in Outer Banks, it would’ve ruined the show for fans if they were awkward with one another.
