When it comes to teen shows, we’ve seen it happen time and time again: Adults playing teenagers. That’s no different in the hit Netflix teen adventure series Outer Banks. Most of the main cast members are in their 20s. (Some even in their 30s!)

Thankfully, Outer Banks happens to be the kind of show where you need to suspend your disbelief (they’re searching for treasure and gold and skipping school, after all), so the fact that the cast members aren’t actually teenagers isn’t quite as jarring.

But how old are the Pogues supposed to be? We’re answering the burning question that will be on all of our minds while binge-watching Outer Banks season 3. Here’s the estimated and assumed ages for each of the characters in the fan-favorite series.

How old is John B in Outer Banks?

The fearless leader of the Pogues is said to be about 17 at the start of the series, and considering not much time elapses between seasons, he’s around the same age in season 3. However, Chase Stoke happens to be much older than his character at 30 years old in real life.

How old is Sarah in Outer Banks?

While John B is the oldest member of their group, they are all around the same age and estimated to be born in about 2003. Being so, Sarah Cameron is 16 years old. Madelyn Cline is nearly 10 years older than her character as she’s 25 years old as of February 2023.

How old is Pope in Outer Banks?

Pope might not be the oldest Pogue in the group, but he’s definitely the most mature. He’s also 16 years old and has goals of attending college after high school. Jonathan Daviss, who portrays Pope in the series, is one of the youngest cast members, having been born in February 2000.

How old is Kie in Outer Banks?

Just like her friends, Kiara, also known by her nickname “Kie,” is 16 years old. A former Kook based purely on birth and geography, she’s also one of the wisest minds of the group, often keeping them focused and out of trouble. Madison Bailey turned 24 in January 2023.

You either love him or hate him! Sarah’s older brother Rafe becomes one of the many villains facing off against the Pogues. He’s about 19 or 20 years old in the first season, making his portrayer Drew Starkey about 10 years older than his character, as he’ll turn 30 in November 1993.
