We can already hear the fireworks popping to usher in the new year, and you know what that means for the streaming giant. Netflix will release new shows and new seasons of returning shows in 2023! We’re so excited about the upcoming new releases, but unfortunately, some Netflix shows we won’t see make a comeback in 2023.

2022 was a great year for Netflix, with new seasons of Stranger ThingsThe Umbrella AcademyBridgertonOzark, Dead to MeEmily in ParisFirefly Lane and many other popular Netflix shows being released throughout the year.

However, for various reasons, some of these shows won’t return this year. Why? Well, some shows ended their run in 2022, while others were canceled. There are also shows that will most likely not be coming back because they won’t be finished with the filmmaking process to make a 2023 release. I know. This is a real bummer.

We can’t help but think about some of our favorite Netflix shows that won’t be returning. So, we decided to create a list of seven Netflix shows we’ll miss in 2023. Read on if you’re interested!

Netflix shows we’ll miss in 2023: Stranger Things

After an explosive two-part fourth season, everyone is waiting for Stranger Things to return for its fifth and final installment. But unfortunately, we won’t see Stranger Things season 5 in 2023. The popular sci-fi series is rumored to start shooting in May 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia, but a wrap date is unknown at the moment.

We’re probably looking at about five to six months of production before the new episodes move on to post-production. Post-production is where the show will spend the most time since Stranger Things is a special effects-heavy show. It’ll be a while before we hear of a release date, but the fifth season is expected to come out in mid-2024.
