Does Marienne die in You season 4 part 1?

Bye, Madre Linda, and hello, London, England! You season 4 part 1 takes place mostly in London, where Joe attempts to start a new life as a professor at university. However, this doesn’t mean that Marienne doesn’t cross his mind from time to time. Remember, Joe had traveled across the globe to Paris to find Marienne at the end of the third season. But unfortunately, he doesn’t find her. Does he find Marienne in the fourth season? If so, what happens to Marienne in part 1? Find out right below!

Everything goes down in episode 1. Through flashbacks, viewers discover that Joe does eventually track down Marienne. After searching for Marienne for months in Paris, Joe finally comes across a painting of hers. However, she’s nowhere to be found. So, Joe asks an artist nearby how he can contact her, and the artist tells him that Marienne is in London for an art fair.

Joe travels to London and attends the art fair. He finds Marienne talking to an artist and stares at her from afar. Marienne could feel someone watching her, so she turns around and sees Joe. As Joe approaches her, she begins running. Joe ends up trapping Marienne in a building, where they have an intense conversation. But how does the conversation end? Does Joe let Marienne live?

Does Marienne die in You season 4 part 1?

No! Marienne does not die in part 1. Joe lets Marienne leave after their conversation with a promise to prove to her that he’s a changed man. However, Joe is later given the task of killing Marienne by Elliot Tannenberg.

Elliot Tannenberg worked for Love Quinn’s father and was sent to kill Joe. However, Elliot decides to make a deal with Joe where Joe will be able to live and take on a new identity if, in exchange, Joe hands over all of the money he stole from Love’s account. Joe accepts the deal, and then Elliot tells him that in order to start his new life in London, he must first get rid of Marienne. Obviously, Joe doesn’t want to go through with killing Marienne so he comes up with a plan.

When Marienne is about to board her train, Joe manages to steal the necklace off her neck. Marienne looks around for who could’ve stolen her necklace but doesn’t find anyone and continues to get on the train. Joe then sends a picture of the necklace to Elliot as proof that he finished the job even though he didn’t.

So, Marienne lives to see another day. But have we seen the last of her in You? It’s unknown, but I don’t think so. I think she might make her return in You season 4 part 2. We’ll find out once part 2 drops on March 9.
