Netflix’s The Sandman series, based on Neil Gaiman’s DC comics, was one of 2022 top-rated shows having spent several weeks in the top 10 charts. But with weeks of speculation about whether the series would return, actor Mason Alexander Park, who plays Desire, confirmed at the Fan Expo San Francisco that the epic fantasy would be returning to the streaming giant in some form or another:

"“Netflix has not gone on record as calling it a Season 2, on purpose. And so, I will, from now on and in the future, and possibly until the end of the universe not refer to it as Season 2 until we know what it is. [But] there is more Sandman coming in a really cool way and it can take many forms”"

Although the actor refused to explicitly call the upcoming sequel “season 2,” The Sandman is returning to Netflix, but if you were hoping for a return this month, then be prepared for some disappointment as The Sandman season 2 (or whatever you want to call it) is not coming to Netflix in February 2023.

The main reason for this is that the series has not even been shot yet, meaning there’s still a considerable wait to go before we reunite with Dream and the others in the Endless. So when could we realistically see the upcoming project? Read on to find out the latest The Sandman season 2 updates.

While the return of Morpheus may not be what we exactly expect, fans of the show are sure to be filled with joy knowing that more from Neil Geiman is coming to Netflix. As well as confirming the return of the Endless during the Fan Expo San Francisco, Mason Alexander Park shared that filming for the next project will begin sometime in summer 2023. They told fans:

"“We’re starting shooting in the summer and we’re gonna tackle the next huge chunk of stories in however long that might take.”"

Based on the filming date given by the actor and considering the amount of post-production necessary to bring Neil Geiman’s dark fantasy to life, the next thing from The Sandman universe is likely to come out at the earliest sometime in 2024.

Currently, all eleven episodes of The Sandman are available for streaming on Netflix.
