Ever since The Sandman was renewed for a second season in November 2022, we have been patiently waiting for new updates. Finally, it looks like our wish has come true because one of the series creators (Neil Gaiman) recently announced that a new character would be introduced in The Sandman season 2. It’s Delirium! If you’re a fan of the comic book, you’re probably already familiar with this character. We can’t wait to see what role Delirium will play in the story’s plot for season 2.

The Sandman is a Netflix original series that premiered on Aug. 5, 2022. It’s based on the popular DC comic book series of the same name by Gaiman. Similar to the comic, The Sandman series centers around Dream/Morpheus, a powerful being and lord over all dreams and reality. He’s also one of the seven Endless.

The first season focuses on Dream’s capture, his escape from imprisonment, and his journey to find his stolen tools and restore order to his broken kingdom. The Sandman season 2’s plot is unknown at the moment, but with a new character added to the show, we can already tell that season 2 will be another great season.

Delirium will be introduced in The Sandman season 2

According to Gamesradar, Gaiman announced that Delirium will be in The Sandman season 2 at Brazil’s 2022 Comic Con Experience.

Here’s what Gaiman had to say about Delirium:

"We have more members of the Endless coming including the youngest member of the Endless. Don’t tell anybody, but it’s Delirium. There will be butterflies, there will be balloons, there will be magic, there will be chicken and telephone-flavored ice cream. It’s all coming for you."

Unfortunately, Gaiman did not reveal what actor would be portraying the character. The creative team will most likely start the casting process at a later date.

In the first season, we were introduced to four members of the Endless. They were Dream, Death, Desire, and Despair. In addition, one other member was briefly mentioned, which was Destiny. But we still have yet to meet Destiny, Destruction, and Delirium. Our guess is that more members will be announced to be in the second season, further into the filmmaking process.

When the fantasy series was renewed in November, Netflix tweeted what Gaiman said fans could expect in the upcoming second season. Gaiman said there will be a family meal including members of the Endless in season 2. He also teased that there will be more interactions between Dream and Lucifer in the new season.
