Freeridge: How is the post-mortem witch connected to Chivo from On My Block?

The On My Block spinoff, Freeridge, is now available to stream on Netflix, and fans of the original series have noticed all the connections between both series and insider nuggets. In fact, there’s a character we meet in the spinoff who’s connected to On My Block fan-favorite character, Chivo. Before we get into who the mystery character is, let me give you a rundown of who Chivo is. Chivo is a former Santos gang member who eventually becomes friends with Jamal in On My Block. He lives in a safe house in Freeridge and has a gnome obsession. The reason he has a gnome collection is because it’s a coping mechanism. As a former gang member, he lost a lot of friends, so his gnomes offer him some form of safety and comfort.

In Freeridge, Demi and Ines visit a psychic expert to ask about the premonitions that were given to them by Cinnamon. They end up having a session with a post-mortem witch who also enjoys making ceramic gnomes. The gnomes are not a coincidence. The post-mortem witch is linked to Chivo.

Freeridge: How is the post-mortem witch connected to Chivo?

While the post-mortem witch is explaining her love for making gnomes to Demi and Ines, Demi points out a gnome that looks like the psychic and asks her about it. If you’re an On My Block fan, this gnome will look familiar to you. It’s Juanita, the gnome that Chivo and Jamal cared deeply about.

The psychic tells Demi and Ines that she made the gnome for her ex-boyfriend Chivo after they broke up to help him cope with the breakup. Since we know Chivo doesn’t do well with losing a loved one, and his gnome collection is what keeps him sane, it makes sense why the psychic made him a ceramic gnome that looked like her.

So, the post-mortem witch’s name is Juanita, and she’s the ex-girlfriend of Chivo. That being said, I think it’s safe to say that she made the other gnomes that Chivo has in On My Block.
