Are you ready for some good news, The Recruit fans? Netflix has officially renewed the spy-adventure series for a second season! The streaming giant announced the show’s renewal on Jan. 26, a little over a month after its release. Now that we know The Recruit season 2 is in the works, everyone’s wondering when it will be released. Unfortunately, it’s still too early in the filmmaking process for Netflix to give an official release date, but the streamer did reveal the release year.

The Recruit is a Netflix original series created by Alexi Hawley. It’s about a young CIA lawyer who finds himself entangled in the dangerous world of international espionage when a former asset threatens to expose the agency unless they clear her name of a serious crime.

Noah Centineo leads the cast as rookie lawyer Owen Hendricks. The rest of the main cast includes Laura Haddock, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Kristian Bruun, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

It’s good to know that fans won’t be left with that shocking season 1 cliffhanger. Instead, the story will continue in a second season, and we can’t wait to see how things play out.

When could The Recruit season 2 arrive on Netflix?

When Netflix announced the show’s renewal, they did so through a montage of clips from the first season. However, if you continue to watch the video to the end, you’ll find out the release year for The Recruit season 2. The video ends with the words, “Season 2 coming 2024.”

Initially, we were saddened by this news because we had hoped to see the new season in 2023. However, there’s just no way it’ll be finished with the filmmaking process to make a 2023 release. It’s unknown if scripts have already been pre-written, so some time will have to be set aside for the writing process. Production and post-production will most likely take a while too.

Principal photography on the first season began in October 2021 and didn’t end until five months later in March 2022. Then, it took about eight months for the show to make its way to Netflix. So, a 2024 release makes the most sense.

Unfortunately, the production schedule for The Recruit season 2 is unknown at the moment. However, we’re hoping cameras will start rolling in the spring of 2023. Then, once production wraps up, the new episodes should immediately enter post-production, where they will spend the most time being edited to perfection. While the episodes are being edited, we could be looking at another eight-month wait before the second season lands on Netflix.

However, we’re hoping the wait time can be shortened this time around. We might not get to see the second season at the very beginning of 2024, but we believe there’s a good chance we could see it in spring 2024. If not, we’re probably looking at a summer release at the latest. Once we have information on the production schedule, we should be able to provide a more accurate release prediction. But for now, expect the second season to come out in spring 2024 at the earliest or summer 2024 at the latest.
