A new generation of Point Place teenagers are coming to Netflix, and that means there’s a whole new generation of throwback music to enjoy. That ’90s Show, a sequel spinoff of the hit sitcom That ’70s Show, brings us back to a hilarious world we’ve been missing.

In the summer of 1995, Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) spends the summer with her grandparents Red and Kitty, played once again by the inimitable Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp. A revolving door of original cast members stops by as Leia comes of age with a new band of misfits in her father’s storied basement hangout.

Just as Eric (Topher Grace), Donna (Laura Prepon), and all their friends enjoyed the classic rock bands of the ’70s, Leia and her friends have all of the staples of the ’90s, like Alanis Morissette, Salt-N-Pepa, Collective Soul, and others on the soundtrack lineup.

Who sings the That ’90s Show theme song?

That ’70s Show superfans will recognize the tried-and-true theme song of the original. Back in the ’90s, the ’70s-set sitcom called on ’70s rock band Cheap Trick to cover Big Star’s song “In the Street.” (Todd Griffin performed the theme song for season 1.)

This time around, That ’90s Show calls on a pair of ’90s rock band favorites to recreate the iconic theme song. James Iha, who is the guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins and worked on the new sitcom as its composer, crafted a new punk-inspired version of “In the Street” with The Donnas lead singer Brett Anderson on vocals.
