What is Dog Gone about?

Dog Gone is coming to Netflix at the end of the week. Not sure if it’s going to be a movie for you? Here’s a look at what this Rob Lowe movie is about.

Many of us have four-legged members of the house. If you’re a dog owner like me with huskies, you know the risk of them getting free. Actually, I tell a lie. My two have gotten out and come straight back. It’s like they know they just can’t survive on their own, but there’s always a risk of them getting out and not coming back. I don’t put anything past them.

Well, in Dog Gone, a family realizes that their beloved dog has gotten out. This isn’t just down the street out, but somewhere on the Appalachian Trail. The chances of this dog ending up in the local shelter and the owners getting a phone call to pick up is very unlikely.

To make matters worse, Gonker the dog has a medical problem that requires medication. So, not only is this dog lost on the trail, but there’s a slim chance that he would be able to survive for too long. It’s up to the family to find him.

That’s what the family does. Rob Lowe and Johnny Berchtold play a father and son who head out on a road trip to find their beloved dog. They’ll do anything to get Gonker back home safe.

This isn’t just a journey to find Gonker, either. They have a fractured relationship, and the journey gives them the bonding time they need to repair that relationship. Good things can come from terrible circumstances.

We also see the way the world comes together to find this one dog. Even gruff-looking bikers have a heart and are willing to find the purest creatures on Earth.

The movie is based on true events. Don’t worry; it’s not another Marley and Me.
