Law enforcement was eventually notified of what the schemer was doing, leading to his arrest in December 2008. Though the FBI didn’t figure it out on their own. Madoff’s children are the ones who turned their own father in.

On Dec. 11, 2008, the fraudulent business owner was arrested and charged after his two sons, Mark and Andrew, went to the authorities. The two young men told law enforcement that their dad had admitted to them what he was doing.

Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison, serving almost 12 of those before he died at the age of 82 in a North Carolina prison due to his declining health. So where are his sons now? Unfortunately, there was a sad turn of events.

Exactly two years after Bernie Madoff’s arrest, Mark died by suicide in December 2010. He hanged himself on the anniversary of his dad’s arrest, according to NBC News. He was 46 years old. Four years following Mark’s death, Andrew died from mantle-cell lymphoma in 2014, as reported by the news outlet. He was 48 years old.

Where is Bernie Madoff’s wife now?

Since Bernie’s arrest, Ruth Madoff decided to move to Connecticut and away from the public eye. She currently lives there to be close to her grandchildren, Women’s Health reports.
